– It is unfortunate that we’ve recently experienced a considerable uptick in the Brentwood area in the number of Burglaries that have occurred in June and July of this year. Attached is a synopsis of what has occurred (the addresses are rounded to the nearest 100 block for privacy) and although there isn’t any suspect or vehicle description that we can share, hopefully this will serve as reminder to all to be and stay aware of your the activities, people and cars in your neighborhood. And if you see something, say something. I’ll update the community as I receive further information from detectives.

Please note that 9 of the 13 recent Burglaries and the 1 Home Invasion Robbery (defined essentially as a burglary where force or fear is used on the victim) occurred between noon and midnight. The 3 other burglaries occurred between midnight and noon.
There is no distinctive suspect description to share other than one male black had a corn roll hair style. Most of these residences were accessed by smashing rear windows. One was by kicking in the door and one was by a window pane removal. But the thing to remember is that the overall majority of them were entered by a rear or out of view access point.
Detectives don’t have further to share with the community at this point. They are working diligently on all leads and follow-ups. If you have any information to share, or if you’ve witnessed anything suspicious or unusual to your neighborhood, please send it to me and I’ll forward it onto detectives. The minute I get any further information that I can share with the community, I will.
In the meantime, please take whatever measures you can afford to better secure your properties. Ensure video cameras are up and running and are visible-to further serve as a deterrent. Be nosy… if you hear glass breaking, pay attention, call it in. Side gates should be locked. Lights should illuminate your home like an airport. Leave something audible, like a stereo or TV loud enough to be heard from the front and the rear to give the impression that someone is home each and every time you leave your home. Talk to your family and your staff about how to deal with strangers and solicitors ringing your doorbell…Without answering the door, they should speak loudly and in the plural “We can’t come to the door right now”. And if you do find yourself face to face with someone in your home, remember that there is nothing, no amount of property, cash or jewelry, that is worth you or your family’s safety.
I’ll post more as I get it…
Take care,
Maria
