IRS scam phone calls: Pass the word!

From [email protected] :
The IRS scam phone calls are back. The call starts with “This is officially a notification from the IRS…”

Pass the word on to family, friends, and neighbors. I am most concerned with those who don’t know these are fraudulent. But, even when you know it’s a scam, these calls can be a little disturbing. If you don’t know it’s a scam, bad can things happen.

The IRS never makes phone calls. The IRS does business in writing.

If you get a call like this:

— Do not give out any information. Hang up immediately.
— Contact TIGTA (Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration) to report the call. Use their “IRS Impersonation Scam Reporting” web page or
call 800-366-4484.
— Report it to the Federal Trade Commission. …
— If you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS directly at 800-829-1040.

Thank you Judie!
